Zakat Calculator

This calculator applies the standard rule taught by the vast majority of scholars: Zakat is2.5% of your net zakatable wealth, provided that wealth has been held for one full lunar (Hijri) year and is at or above the Nisab threshold. It does not store, send, or save any figure you enter; everything happens in your browser.

Step 1: What counts as zakatable wealth

Include jewelry if your school of thought counts worn gold as zakatable; scholars differ on this.

We do not have a live, no-key gold price feed, so this is not pre-filled with a "current" number. Check a live price atkitco.com/charts/goldor your local market, then enter it yourself.

Check a live price atkitco.com/charts/silverbefore entering a figure.

Step 2: Which Nisab standard?

Scholars differ on this and both are legitimate, mainstream positions. We show your result against both so you can decide, or follow what your local imam advises.

The silver standard produces a lower Nisab threshold in almost all markets, meaning more people meet it. Some scholars view that as more protective of the poor; others hold the gold standard is more consistent with the available hadith. Neither is "the only correct" answer.

How the numbers work

Net zakatable wealth = cash + (gold grams × gold price) + (silver grams × silver price) + investments, minus short-term debts due now.

Nisab is the minimum threshold below which no Zakat is due. The traditional values are 87.48 grams of gold, or 612.36 grams of silver, converted to your currency at current metal prices. Because gold and silver prices move independently, the two thresholds can differ substantially and which one applies to you is a matter of scholarly opinion, not a settled fact this calculator can decide for you.

Zakat due = 2.5% of net zakatable wealth, only if that wealth is at or above the Nisab threshold you selected, and only on wealth held for a full lunar year.

This tool does not cover Zakat on agricultural produce, livestock, or Zakat al-Fitr, which follow different rules. For anything beyond a straightforward cash, metal and investment calculation, or if your situation involves debts owed to you, business partnerships, or mixed currencies, speak with a qualified local scholar.
